The town of Teplice was one of the first towns in the Czech Republic to take advantage of the possibility to administer its public order matters on its own within its independent scope and on February 1, 1992 established the Municipal Police of Teplice. Nowadays this institution has 75 employees, out of which 61 are constables and 9 are the video surveillance operators. In its current structure the Municipal Police includes drive squads, guard service, traffic squad, district service, park guards and security guards. Furthermore, we have constables trained in catching stray animals and a crime prevention group consisting of district constables. Their activity is oriented in particular towards lectures in schools, organizing of events for children and collective actions organized in close cooperation with the medical and social care department.
