Kolostuj’s Waterworks

Kolostuj’s Waterworks

Correctly called the Jubilee Waterworks. It was installed in the Spa Arbustum in 1862 to celebrate the 1100th anniversary of the Teplice springs discovery. Designed according to the project by ing. Adolf Siegmund, the latter town mayor, with stone-cutting elements by K. Ullman of Dresden. The waterworks bears features of Roman architecture. The waterspouts in the image of swine and a Czech post-war table remind of the reason why this waterworks was installed – the anniversary celebration and the legend of the springs discovery – hence the popular title “Kolostůj’s Waterworks“. Before the war a female sculpture with an antic amphora – The Nymph of Springs – was installed at the top of the waterworks.
